Talib Bensouda resigns as udp party’s organising secretary

Kanifing mayor Talib Bensouda has been sensationally told to “be very careful” of people urging him to dump the United Democratic Party and go solo in the 2026 presidential race.

The warning came from UDP hardliner Lamin Ceesay, as Talib resigned as the party’s organising secretary and pulled out of the flagbearer contest.

Bensouda is seen by many as the golden boy who could finally bring the opposition UDP to power. But his meteoric rise has rattled feathers inside the party, which is still bitterly split despite Ousainou Darboe controversially clinging to the leadership.

Ceesay, while praising Talib for keeping his word not to challenge Darboe, blasted him for stepping down as national organising secretary.

“I commend Talib for honouring his word, unlike Adama Barrow, who broke his. But I’m disappointed he resigned. He must be very careful of those pushing him to take such decisions,” he warned.

He insists Talib still has every chance of becoming president,

but only if he waits his turn.
