Anti-Crime Unit of Gambia Police Force in Brufut, on Tuesday, arrested Lamin Sawo, 38 years old, Gambian national and a businessman residing in Salagi, for possession of a 9mm Walther pistol (S/N BC23169595) with nine rounds of ammunition (five used, four unused).
The arrest followed an informant’s report of gunshots and threatening behaviour at the suspect’s residence. Upon arrival, officers discovered empty cartridges and recovered the firearm from inside the suspect’s room.
The suspect admitted ownership of the weapon but denied firing it, claiming he found the weapon hidden and kept it for personal use. He remains in custody as investigations continue.
